Introducing a New Hymn Series Concept: "If These Walls Could Sing"
The Moment of Inspiration
While on a trip to London a couple of years ago during our There's a Song That's Being Heard tour, I came across a beautiful old cathedral. I later discovered it was the place where John Newton, writer of the beloved hymn "Amazing Grace", once served as the rector. In that moment, I realized that many of the places where the great hymns of the faith were written still exist today.
That idea became the inspiration behind a series we would love to develop called “If These Walls Could Sing.”
In this video, we traveled to New York to dive deep into the life of Fanny Crosby. We walked the very streets she walked, learned more about her incredible story, and explored the history behind her music. My daughter Eileen and I worked together to create a special arrangement of her timeless hymn, "Blessed Assurance." Then, we brought the whole band into a historic house from that era, just like the one where Fanny grew up, to perform and record it right there. It was an unforgettable experience!
