Anxiety is more than common in this day and age. Worry has consumed my generation. I experienced anxiety for the first time during my junior year of high school. I was so afraid that I was in disobedience to God. I felt like I couldn’t discern His voice and I wasn’t in His will. I was so worried to mess up God’s plans for my life!

This song speaks to many of the powerful things that can happen when we worship! Truth, focus, perspective, relationship and closeness.

The fact that the God of the Bible is a God of love sets Christianity apart from all other religions. At the center of Christian faith is Jesus dying on a cross to prove that love for you and me!

This song is a desperate prayer for Jesus to reveal Himself. I wrote it after I led worship for a service in which I felt like nothing good had happened. That of course was not true, but it is what caused me to write this melody and lyrics. After that experience, I was just asking God to show up in a tangible way.

Hunger is a gift from the Lord. To want him, to desire Him. I can’t take any credit for my deep longing for the Holy Spirit, but I can testify about it. There is nothing that comes close to the presence of God.

I was in a prayer room at a mission’s base in Kona, Hawaii. Right before I was on my way to lead worship, I read John 12:3, and to be honest, my life was changed. John 12:3 tells the story of Mary pouring out all her perfume on Jesus’ feet and the fragrance of the oil filling the whole house. I felt like I understood worship in a real way.

This song is written from Psalm 61, in which David is writing from a low, weary, dangerous, and – far from God – place. What can be somewhat confusing, and yet wonderful, is that David prays to be taken to the Rock that is high above, and simultaneously to God Himself!
