“There isn’t a huge backstory to this song or to why I wrote it. I just started singing it. It flowed out of me because it’s my heart’s song. I didn’t form a bunch of lyrics, I just sang what my heart always is, and it’s simple ~ Jesus is all I want. The only one I desire. Jesus who is close. Jesus who is King. Jesus who is my friend. I just want Him. I want Him and His ways. I want Him and His Kingdom on earth. Through the valley, Jesus Christ is my desire. It’s very simple: I want Jesus more than anything, and I want to want him even more. I’m hungry. I’ve tasted, and I can’t get enough. My prayer is that a generation would sing and live this song out with a genuine love and hunger for Jesus and abandonment to the world. How beautiful you are, Jesus.”
